This guy was sitting in one of our landscape shrubs this afternoon staying out of the rain. I am having trouble with the noise in bg. Noise Ninja seems to make it worse.

Great capture Sid,
I recommend in cloning out the branch on top of the bird's head and the other one next to it and also the one running along the bottom of his tail...
P.S. You might also want to do a little selective lightening around the head area and along hid breast. In addition a slight dab of sharpening on the eye...
hi sid!! good looking bird!! he does look a little dark though. agree with gus about cloning out that branch coming out of his head. not quite sure what problem you were having with NR but you could also try some gaussian blur and see if that works for you.
I think even with the plus exposure comp the original might have been a little under exposed? Will make it a noise magnet As presented it could go a little brighter.
Did you use a tripod for this image? Your effective focal length was over 700 mm and the shutter speed 1/160 !!!
Thanks for all the suggestions. I went back to the RAW image in LR and started again. It did require a little more exposure. I did some sharpening and noise reduction.
This was not shot with a tripod, but I did brace against a window. I need to get a tripod.
I like the photo a lot but as Al said the shutter speed was low for your focal length. I think if you would have opened up the aperture more it would have brought your speed up and helped with bg blur.
