Talk about a rock solid coalition.

    6.53pm.
These 2 bros were only half that made up the strong coalition of 4 that reigned over the Kusini Plains area of the Serengeti. Here they are surveying their kopje kingdom one early evening.
    Such majesty!

D4 80-400AF-S 1/320s f/9 ISO3200@ 270mm. F/F. Bean bag from front pax seat. Curves, levels, mid tone adj- TK masking, selective USM, in ACR/PS CC '14. Would have liked not to cut the RHS lion as there were some branches coming into play, but can live with it.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

Hi Marc - This works really well. It's too bad about the branches to the right because I agree with you having the full bodies and symmetry of both complete lions would have really taken this over the top. However, I would still be very happy to have had this majestic sighting and to have this image in my files. As an alternate comp you could turn it into more of a pano by cropping about half the distance to the top still retaining the two tone sky just not as much. Both work.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Great sighting Marc! I understand why you cropped from the RHS, still works for me very well because those two majestic kings are looking to the left and you've given them enough space.

The sky adds to the atmosphere, love the expression from the subjects, that clean BG as well as rocky FG - would have loved to be there and see this with my own eyes

    Kind regards,

Very nice shoot, eyes are perfect...for me the only problem is on the right; have you tried as a square crop with both the head ?

Very majestic. I love the storm clouds approaching and accompanying wind blowing through the manes. Bummer about what describe for the right side - still curious though...sometimes it may work including it to include the rest of the hidden body. Still works fine as presented though.

    Hey Marc,

I like the image a lot.. Hope you don't mind but I worked a bit with your image. Just a subtle crop that I think helps. There are better places to amputate when cropping a wildlife subject and just behind the shoulder works well, more purposeful than with most of the lion in the frame (looks accidental though you explained it wasn't)

    Hi Marc

    POV very dramatic here.
These two oozes self confidence, love the wind in their mane and the sky behind them- F9 was a good choice.
    Wish I was there..
    Regards

    Andre.

Marc, fabulous sighting and a definite high-end keeper even with the cropped lion.
I like what Dale's subsequent crop has done!
