    Default Forster's Tern Begging Closeup

This is from last weekend at Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach, CA. There was a pair of Forster's Tern at the boardwalk with the female endlessly begging (and yapping) for food from its partner. They were both very comfortable with people and one could get incredibly close shots (see also http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=12659). Unfortunately, it also made it difficult to get the food handoff.

    Thanks for looking. JR

Great image. I like the soft light, details, composition and complementing BG that makes that begging bill stand out even more. :)

I like the behavioral pose, John. The orange beak stands out nicely from the whites and grays. Nice detail in the black on black eye.

This is just a great shot. So rare to get close to these guys. I love that you can see the eye.
