Wonderful feel to this shot. Great looking frosty grass, nice spotlight effect on the bird and good BG. Nice that you got a low angle too.
Nice shot Chris, I would suggest crop an inch off the base and investigate an increase in exposure, i.e lift the darker areas, I appreciate the light was not coming from an optimal direction but I feel the curlew is a little underexposed.
I enjoy the roomy composition and very nice light quality. The frosty grass is a great element to the image. I could see a case being made to run a little gentle NR on the bg...Lovely frame sir.
I'm OK with the exposure as is (it provides a neat mood), but I agree with cropping a bit off the bottom - enough to eliminate the more "solid" part of the FG running along the bottom. I love the grass and appealing green BG.
I like the low angle and the display of the habitat, BG is nice too. Colors are a tad dull as posted, and a bit head turn towards us would have been ideal
