    Default drop-in filter for Canon 200 f1.8

does anyone know where I can get a replacement filter for this lens? since the lens is no longer made, I'm having difficulty finding one. drop-ins from the newer telephotos won't fit due to a different holder. Any help would be appreciated.

Don are you looking for the actual tray or the filter itself? Isnt the filter just a 48mm UV filter (52mm on the newer lenses)?

Googling "canon 48mm drop in filter" I got a few hits. Amazon says they have them in stock with the holder:

Thanks Robert. Since I posted I also found several places that have it. I need both the holder and filter. Apparently, the filter is part of the optical design of this lens and consequently doesn't focus well without it.

The filter is part of the optical design so yes you should use it.

The link I included is for the holder and filter for sale.
