In my favorite pond, there was a lone stilt...with a badly broken leg. I felt so badly for her, but she seemed to have adapted well. Of course, I realized I couldn't photograph her except to document her injury. Then later she came closer, and her courage and beauty moved me. Why not photograph her? So, I concentrated on portraits and she did not disappoint.

C & C are always welcomed and much appreciated.

Beautiful image Marina! I like the exposure, light, details, sharpness, BG and composition. I'm glad you made the best of this situation.

Love the light and the composition and the great BG color.
Angle of the head and neck are perfect.
I don't know if it is my eyes but I feel like the feather texture is too smooth- almost like you ran a bit of NR on the feathers.
I would try a touch of Detail Extractor on this little lady to see if it will pull out the details in the whitest whites and darker blacks.
    Lovely image!

A wonderful portrait! I love the light, the BG and the pose. I agree with Gail that it seems to lack some detail in the darkest and brightest feathers, might be fixable in PS.

That's fantastic light quality and beautiful eye contact. I'm glad that she came close and was comfortable with your presence. Lovely words to go with the post as well...I connect more with the image on an emotional level due to that....

You made the most of it thats for sure. Nice composition and great BG

Nicely done although I too feel there could be some more details especially the dark areas

Hi Marina. Perfect head turn and nice green BG. Agree with the others about a bit more sharpening, and I might consider desaturating the yellows in the Stilt somewhat.

Stunningly beautiful bird, light, BKGR, and image design. Sharp as could be. The fine feather detail looks perfectly fine to me. If you twisted my arm a bit I might suggest that you try to lighten the iris a bit....
