    Hi Norm

Even though it is high key, everything looks grey and dreary on the subject

I have taken the liberty of brightening it up using your jpg. Removed a lot of blue that was present and highlighted the eye too

Also cropped a bit from the top

    Hope you dont mind

Thanks, Shane. That looks good. I think something between the two would be perfect.

Lovely pose and sharpness. I think Shane's version really brings the bird forward -- no need for the subject to go gray. The yellow in the leaves might be toned down.

I have to agree with Shane and Diane. Brighter is better.

The repost rocks! l really like the composition you chose Norm, and the leaves nicely anchor that lower corner.

In the discussion above, I agreed with Shane and Diane that a brighter bird was better. Shane's repost really made my bird pop. But I also thought that something between my OP and Shane's repost might be best. I thought that because the rich green color of the leaves would thereby be better preserved.

It's all a mater of personal taste. Shane's repost is excellent, but for what it's worth, here is my effort to make my OP better.

Very nice, Norm. It should be easy to optimize the bird and the leaves separately. You might need to resort to some very rough masking to block out the orange beak in case it is affected by any color changes to the leaves.

    Nice repost

The whites still look a bit blue on my screen but I guess you were there and know the colour of that bird
