Default Theme: Looking up in Washington State

I've been gone for several weeks visiting my son and sister. I now have a mild case of flu and am taking it easy around the house.

From the fall of 2014; taken on a hike in Washington State. It isn't an image I would have done anything with, but, decided to play around with it for this theme.

Added two textures: "Green Batik Texture" by Patricia Barden: https://www.flickr.com/photos/rememb...e/5412039447/; and "Freebie 8": Joel Olives.
Topaz Detail pencil drawing (I think). CEP: Tonal Contrast and Darken/Lighten center. Orange photo filter.

    I always appreciate honest comments.

I like the composition, especially where the dark tree trunks end within the frame. The combination of light and dark tones is appealing, and there's a great deal of energy with the dark diagonals pointing toward the green circle of tree tops. At first, I wondered if there was too much yellow, but I quickly decided I like it.

Thanks, Dennis. I considered making it more blue. We shall see what others think.

Wow -- it's perfect for me! I love views like this and it's not always successful to find a good composition. You did, with just enough asymmetry for my tastes.

Take care of your flu. I thought that's what I had five weeks ago and I've been battling The Cold From H--l ever since. I think I'm finally winning but it's been a struggle.

Diane: Maybe I also have the Cold from ****. It started as a cold a couple of weeks ago. I don't feel awful, but I don't have energy either.

Mine is stuck on cough. Jack Daniels seems to be the best remedy. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I really like the comp Anita, except for the two green tops on the top edge. At first I wasn't too sure about all the textures (trees vs sky), but I brought it into PS, and I like it better. I always wished we had a feature when you click on the image to bring it into a lightbox, it eliminates distractions.

I wondered about those green tops. Is this an improvement? I should have removed them before adding the textures.

I was fine with the green tops, but it looks even better without them.

Makes me dizzy looking at this image, great perspective and composition.

I like images of trees like this, really shows their majesty. I like the color scheme and was ok with the extra tree tops. Great perspective for the theme!

Jackie, I don't know about all browsers (I use Firefox), but you can right-click on the image and select "view image" and it will do exactly what you said. At least on my computer it opens the image in a new window that has a dark gray background.

Kerry, thanks for the tip. I use Google Chrome but had tried Firefox out a while ago, and it's still at the ready. I like what Firefox does with View Image. Chrome doesn't have that, but it has an "Open image in new tab" choice after a right click. That does remove everything else, but it has the same light background and puts the image in the upper left corner. Not nearly as good as what Firefox does. Or what we see right here without right clicking. Internet Explorer has a lot of choices after a right click, but none of them looks like it even does what Chrome has in terms of isolating the image.
