    Default Snow Bunting.

From a couple of weeks ago. These guys are about to leave the area and head back to the Arctic. I normally like more room for the subject to look into, but here I wanted to include the snow lumps at left and thought they balanced the composition well. Photographed from my car, and audio used to attract the bunting closer.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/3200s., f/7.1, ISO 400, small crop for comp, a few dark specks removed from the snow via spot removal tool, usual darkening of pupil.

lovely light, exp & IQ though the comp is unconventional. Then again you have given a valid reason for that.

No disclaimers are needed for so pleasing a composition as this. And indeed this is a sweet and well-executed look at a snow bunting in the snow! Also, I am envious of your location; snow buntings are not often seen in Toronto. Plus, you have that shoveler hanging around!!

Lovely image Dan, well exposed and cool setting (excuse the pun). If anything I would have preferred there to be no snow behind the bird's back (but that is very subjective). TFS

    This is really nice Daniel.
You have absolutely nailed the exposure. The snow details are perfect and color balance spot on.
And the bird looks good too:-)!!

Impressive control of the detail given so many whites around. Lovely looking bird in a nice pose
