This is the same bird as I posted yesterday. I thought I would share this close up which shows the red eyebrow 'wattle' This is very prominent because it is the breeding season. I was driving on a single track along the Glen and parked at a small passing place. I saw the grouse in the heather. He pranced about the area for 15 mins, I stood behind my car and had a great photo shoot

Thanks for looking and for the comments on my last grouse image. They are much appreciated.

Excellent portrait. Beautiful colors, absolutely superb details, plane BG and nice tight crop.

Super portrait William. May be just a whisker front focused? Regards, Ian.

lovely colors & IQ. A bit more DOF would have helped in increasing the impact.

I like the other one with the background to be honest. Good mug shot though

An absolute cracker William. Sharp and full of detail. The red wattle certainly adds something to these birds. Well done for getting so close. I was photographing these in the Peak District a few weeks ago but didn't get as close as this

Beautiful portrait William. Nice comp, nice colors and details. There was ample light to stop down for more DOF imho. A very successful portrait regardless. TFS.

I like the tight composition, red eyebrows and complimentary BG. Well done William.
