A large crop that I wanted - but there is better to follow I hope I don't bore you but I have had a real blast with the grebes over the last two days!

Great action! I would like a faster SS and larger aperture.

Very nice action, I like all the spray in the air. The head looks pretty sharp for that shutter speed, It does look like fun shooting.

    Hi Jon.

Lovely looking image. I love the 'movement' on the crest and cheek feathers. Along with the droplets it brings the image alive. Lovely POV and HA. Well done and thanks for sharing

Definitely one of our most photogenic birds, I love watching them - sadly usually from too far away! This is a very nice frame with good action, but with a 1dx I think you may have benefitted from pushing the ISO a bit higher for a faster shutter speed. Very unusual way the crest is though, nice to see

    Jon:

Never too many crested grebe shots. A very photogenic bird with lots of interesting action.

Although I get the idea of a faster shutter speed, sometimes the most effective images do contain a little blur to reinforce the sense of action, so I think you got a nice balance here.

    Cheers

This image is really working for me. Love the water droplets and the sense of movement you've acquired. Your angle and the bird's are just right. The BG goes well with the bird. I'd be pretty darn happy.
