Thanks to Satish for reminding us that is "World Sparrow Day" today! In that honour, here is a sweet little Clay-colored Sparrow that likes to frequent grassy areas in couple of spots locally...

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/7.1, ISO 400, usual eye work, toned down some parts of the perch.

I like the size of the subject in this frame. Nice details and BG really makes the pale coloured bird stand out. Perch is also good here

Nice perch, composition, and good idea leaving the blades of grass in the image. Makes a "common" bird look pretty darn good. What does one wear on World Sparrow Day...and do I have to go to work today?

It's world sparrow day? Sparrows are terrific and I am usually in love with them! The c.c. sparrow is one of my favourites, and anything but common in my neck of the woods. Your guy looks great in this light and the background is just varied enough, although I wouldn't say no to a little more texture, variance, etc. Personal taste! The blades of grass are a lovely touch. Here comes a wish, ha ha: I wish for a perch with more elegance and character. Here comes an emoticon:
And please allow me to conclude by saying that I'm unclear as to how big a role "personal taste" should play in one's critique. Perhaps that's a worthwhile thread to start. I think I will!

Gorgeous, as always from you! I love the soft light, pose and BG texture.

This might be one I could see just a little bigger in the frame -- back to personal taste! I'm not sure we can ever separate that from critique, except to give a rationale for a "recommendation" such as balance or the like.
