    Default Chota Charger

As the name suggests , Chota means ( small ) and Charger because he mock charges the vehicles. This 18 month old cub from Pench national Park ( Madhya Pradesh ) is on the three Male cubs of Collarwali ( Radio Collared ) Female . He is the boldest of the lot and has a penchant for mock charges .
    Image Details: Tv:1/640, Av: f /4.0, iso: 640 , Canon 300mm f2.8 IS II , Canon 1DMK IV.

The face has the look of youth but the body already shows how powerful he is. Super detail in that face. I like the position of the paw, almost like a traffic cop stoping a vehicle to check identification. The BG also shows how well their stripes allow them to blend in with their surroundings.

Lovely detail and sharpness, nice textures and I love the pose and eyes.
If I was to crit this lovely image I would maybe tone down the BG brightness.

Hi Haseeb - Love the piercing stare. That's some huge cub and looking at the size of the paw, he's only going to get even bigger. I too thought the bg distracts so took down the exposure of the bg by -.25 and I also felt there were some blues and cyans coming through in the whites of the tiger so reduced those. Here's a rp done very quickly.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Awesome and unique pose with the underside of the paw visible! Rachel addressed the brightness issue of the bkgd and now it is not so distracting.

Really love the angle, colours and pose here Haseeb!
Rachel's repost added some punch. Would love to see them in the wild someday.

Hi Haseeb, personally I think this is your best posting to date, excellent work and for me, you've embraced the feedback that has been given and applied it, creating a lovely image, nice work.

The low POV, side profile and outstretched paw and of coarse, the fantastic gaze to camera is really cool, sadly the paw does not covey the true size and if you showed the pug makes of this animal, few may not believe you, LOL. I think Rachel's RP address the main issues and I wonder if you have your monitor calibrated correctly, and or, if the screen is facing direct light because the images are tending to be on the 'brighter' side?

He is the boldest of the lot and has a penchant for mock charges .
Sound like he is taking a leaf out of B2's book.

    TFS
    Steve

Thank you Steve ! I think The brightness issue is with me , will have to post some more images to verify whether its me or the monitor . B2 was definitely a bold male tiger but his Father " Charger was known for mock charges , u never know with these Madhya Pradesh Tigers ( they travel a lot for territories and prey , might have got the genes of Bandhavgarh Tigers ).

OK, lets see what happens with future postings, do you calibrate your monitor and how often, should be done on a very regular basis.

B2 was the first Tiger I ever saw, certainly a special Tiger for me.

Hi Haseeb great shot indeed , i like everything about it apart from being a bit too light . Very cool pose and a nice placement in the frame . Love the the look into the camera .

I just took the liberty to make an RP .Looking at the individual channels in PS , easy to find out the enemy , it is in this case the red channel well looking at the colors of the image no wonder though .
What i did was as follows .
Duplicate the BG and make the red channel (channel palette) active by clicking on it .
Go to Image /Apply image / Blue channel /multiply / check the mask box in the panel and select the green channel as source to avoid the multiplying in the shadows.
Now set the duplicate of the BG layer to blend mode of luminosity .

Next i selected the real narrow HL and added a curves adjustment layer and set this to Linear Burn blend mode , blurred the mask with Median Filter from the filter menu with a radius of 10 px . Lowered the opacity of the layer to 60% .

At last i reduced the overall warmth slightly .

Hope this helps .BTW i have seen B2 twice in the past , a massive tiger male , but haven´t been charged by him

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Haseeb, can't really comment as it's not something I use, albeit that I'm Mac based and have been for almost 25yrs, I think Andreas probably the guy you need to contact. I'm pretty sure Dumay is also iMac based, but don't think he has calibrated his kit. If I still have it, I will forward some 'stuff' to you. In case I miss it out, in PS under Edit > Colour settings, make sure Dot gain is 2.2, UNLESS you are using ProPhoto where it needs to be 1.8.

Listen, and you see the light . Enjoy, it's the way to go, although not sure how it compares with the ColourEdge. Now, all you need is another to act as the palette, oh what joy.

What an amazing sighting Hasseb!!! Congratulations!

Love the POV, superb pose, wonderful colours and sharpness on the subject- very well done:)

I agree the BG is a tad bright but you got some great advice and those lovely RP's solve the problem to a great extent - I just think this is one awesome capture, Hasseb, keep them coming please, if you have more!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
