    Default Horned Grebe on Wave

We have had an invasion of grebes this winter on Long Island. Here is one from a few days ago. I just love how their red eyes pop against their non-breeding plumage.

A lovely bird in all plumages indeed! The bird looks great, and I especially enjoy the water color and texture.

Lovely shot, nice detail. Feels almost monochromatic except for that eye.

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice.
    Beautiful details and IQ.
Perfect HA and I really enjoy the color palette.

A real beauty, Grace. The head turn is perfect and you captured excellent details. The eye looks very nice.

I agree the thumbnail does not do it justice! From it I already had a prejudiced opinion of wanting a lower angle...but upon viewing the bigger size I like it just the way it is as it rides on top of the wave. One of my favorite species, unfortunately one I do not seen nearly often enough....

I agree the thumbnail does not do it justice. I really like the monochrome look with the vivid red eye popping through. Kind of likes some of those commercials with the black-and-white person and scene with the colorful shoes. Nice frame.
