    Canon 1Dx
    600 mm II 1.4x III
    ISO 1000 SS 1/2500 F 5.6
    Taken last week in Glace Bay Cape Breton.
    Cropped to 70%FF , sliders in LR5 ( clarity +15, luminance +14, saturation +7, sharpening to +29 and NR +4 then over to CS5 for NR to BG and some Detail Extractor 3% to waxwing. USM to JPEG

    This is delightful! You have just enough of that good rustiness to show us it's a Bohemian. The rich background is more than complimentary. More please!
    P.S. I am most envious; a B. waxwing is rarely seen in my neck of the woods...

    I would have liked f/7.1 DOF but otherwise a beautiful capture, gorgeous composition and nice focus of attention. Regards, Ian

    Gorgeous shot love the pose well caught, especially the fine plumage on the top forewing.

    Gail, this is just astoundingly gorgeous!! The pose, branch, berries and BG are perfect. And it's so nice to see some feather detail on a waxwing!

    Beautiful Gail, I really like the pose and the fact that it's in the midst of eating a berry. The details look terrific and that background is something special. Well done

    Hi Gail, super pose showing the feeding behaviour, and I like the wind swept plumage. I feel your comp is just right, and I do like that smooth BG, makes the waxwing pop nicely.
