    Default Northern Flicker male

I was pleased to see and capture this fellow on my recent trip to Arizona. I have a lovely Northern Flicker (Yellow-shafted) on my feeder at home, but the one shown here is the Western "Red-shafted" race, distinguished by his red malar spot and the lack of red on the nape. Happy to add him to my woodpecker collection. Now if I had just seen the Gilded Flicker...

Just great, Bill. You couldn't have asked for a better pose or direction of sun IMO. Sharp, tail braced, clearly visible tips of both primaries, those powerful feet and nice BG. Well done.

Just a beautiful specimen. IQ is spot-on. I like the tree and color palette of the entire scene. Looking for a con, I suppose the HA could be a few degrees better.

Perfectly composed shot. Great pose and head angle, good-looking tree and superb light. The grey BG compliments the grey parts of the neck very well.

    This is a beautiful image.
Love the color palette, the light and the IQ.
You have chosen just the right amount of tree that balances the image perfectly.
    Well done Bill!
