Photographed on the Connecticut shore a few days ago shortly before sunset. This Turnstone didn't turn a stone but an oyster shell instead.

Nice bird, nice light. Big shell! The only thing that I'm not real fond of is the oof foreground, but sometimes that is hard to control when you're not on a smooth beach. There seems to be alot of turnstones on LI right now, same in CT?

I know, there are plenty of pebbles on that beach, not much one can do about it. There were quite a few turnstones, most of them in full breeding plumage.

I am a big fan of low angle images like this one, the OOF foreground does not bother me at all.I would like a little more room at the top.

Hi Axel,

I have to agree about the stones, they are very distracting. I think I would rather see the bird not touching the big rock. The light and low angle are fantastic!

Very nice light, and the background is magical. Rocks? Would rather not have them, but I like it because it's different than what we've got here in Florida.

Excellent detail and lighting in this image Axel and the rocks are where they are. Fine work !!! Love the low angle too.
