    Default Horned Grebe

This is from a summer afternoon session at Bolsa Chica Wetlands. I was there for the Black Skimmers, and after awhile this Horned Grebe swims over to check me out. Sweet.
My philosophy is you can never be too low, so I was laying in wet sand to get this perspective.

All C&C are greatly encouraged and most appreciated. Thanks for looking at what I love to do.

Hi Kirk, yes love your low perspective here - really close up and personal with this inquisitive grebe. Just gotta love that red eye!

Very nice close up image! Good head angle showing the bright catchy eye. Whats the round yellowish thing beside the grebe? I can only wish it wasnt there as I find it a bit distracting. But sometimes it is what it is and we cant control nature. Nonetheless this is a superb image with very nice details.

Thanks so much for the good words Ray... the round yellowish thing is the left leg/foot of the Grebe.

A nice look at a splendid bird. The angle is most pleasing. Grebe's feet are among life's great treasures!

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice.
Excellent IQ and my kind of POV.
I, too, took a second to figure out that the thing on right was the foot.
I think that because the foot isn't instantly recognizable as a foot that I might prefer to see a frame without it . I am sure you have one!!

Hi Kirk, excellent low perspective, and you have really brought out the finer plumage detail on the head so well. Great eye too. The blues of the water round off the image nicely.
