Taken in August 2012, University Circle in Cleveland. That summer a juvenile great blue heron hung out on the pond in front of the art museum. This portrait was taken just after the sun dipped below the horizon, shooting west toward the sun to pick up the glowing water as a background. I hadn't adjusted my settings when the sun went down, I was so excited by the opportunity, and thus underexposed the frame.

A nice portrait of this heron Ron. The after-sunset capture has accentuated the blues in the plumage complementing the warm glow in the pond. Works for me!

Very lovely -- truly a Great Blue Heron. Bringing it closer to neutral would probably put the water over the top, so a nice balance here. Lovely detail and sharpness.
