Sandhill Cranes, Going and Coming

The Arizona cranes leave Whitewater Draw before sunrise, heading north past Tombstone to feed in the corn stubble fields..... (see next pane)

....and then return just before noon to hang out at Whitewater Draw.

The first frame, of course, is a composite using silhouettes of these birds. This is full width, cropped to pano, and flipped horizontally.

D7000, 500f4 + 1.4, ISO 800, 1/640s @ f/5.6 manual, gitzo and mongoose.

Wow, what a composite Bill and some fancy PS skills I would like to try... I like the placement of the cranes, glad they aren't placed equally apart. The silhouettes are very dramatic against a colorful sunrise, very pretty.
