The shooting angle with the clouds in the background tells the story of the airborne world he lives in, while the food and sandy foreground gives us a feel for the earthbound environment.
Good depth of field, sharp and well exposed.
Ideally, sun on the near side of the bird, but not always possible. If you haven't already, lifting the shadows might help.

I like the pose and the prey, I might go for a tighter crop and reduce the contrast/sharpening. The harsh light and the shadow was unfortunate
