    Default Nikon D750

The Nikon D750 has received recognition from a number of sources, including Popular Photography, which made the D750 its Camera of the Year for 2014. I currently use D7000 and D300 cameras but want to add an FX format camera. I don't want to carry a bulky and heavy camera like the D4, and I think the D750 might be ideal for me.

Any thoughts you might have on the D750, pro or con, would be appreciated.

Love it!. I have a D750 an it is an impressive camera. The D750 have the most advance and best autofocus system to date in the Nikon line. ISO perforamnce is top notch aswell. I currently use it with a 300mm f2.8 and 2x TC and the details and sharpness is superb with this combo. I have owned and used various Nikon cameras.... D300, D7000, D7100, D610 and none can be compared to the D750 in my opinion. I have owned the D750 since mid Dec and I'm pretty happy with all aspect of the camera.

Ray has the best knowledge since he uses the 750 regularly, but if money is in the equation, I got the D610 a month or so ago as a backup to my D800 and find
that I am using it all the time. It is smaller and has about the same IQ as the D800 and is a bit faster.
They are really discounted now and it is a fine full frame camera.....
The 750 does have the AF upgrade, but other than that, they are basically the same camera.
FX is way better than DX for me, I got rid of my D7000 and all of my DX lens, of course you realize your DX lens are pretty much useless on an FX camera, so that is another factor.

Dan has a good point too. The D610 is not too far off compared to the D750 and you can get it cheaper.

I also forgot to mention the D750 has more focus points than the D610 and the area cover in the viewfinder is wider. I found this to be a significant advantage IMO.

This is a bird photography forum. Given that, I would suggest that anyone considering a body upgrade to consider seriously the body with the best AF system that they can afford. The best sensor in the world is useless with OOF shots.

Thanks, David. But what is your bottom line here? Would you suggest the D750, or something else?

I'm a Canon guy, but people are saying and elsewhere that the D750 has Nikon's best AF system, so I'd say go for that; however, if you can wait, the new 7200 may inherit the same AF system and have the advantage of higher pixel-density to enhance telephoto reach. Over at Canon, many of us consider the 7D MkII the "best" choice for bird and wildlife because of it's combination of AF and high pixel-density. The 7200 looks like Nikon's response to that. I own both full-frame and crop-sensor bodies, for different purposes.

Thanks, Dave. I'll probably go for the 750 since I'd like to explore the FX format. And the flip-out LCD is a plus.
