    Default Pied-billed Grebe

Another dingy-grey day here in Seattle. I had good luck to get two of these guys fairly close to shore--but the light was very low. I love these little guys! They really are cool little birds.

Really cool pose! Just a +4 bump in Selective color> blacks> black and saved as sRGB. It may be my eyes though as a lot of images are looking a little hazy to me today.

I'll be interested in hearing from others.

Thanks, Jim! I have upped it several times myself--not sure where to stop! I do think yours looks better. It is an interesting image to play with.

Great details and pose. The open bill adds a lot to it. I like Jim's repost but the original looks good on my monitor, too.

never seen a grebe so vocal Bonnie.
Like head best on original and some of the body feathering on repost

I really like this one, Bonnie! Great pose! You did a fine job making this image. The only thing I might consider is selectively reducing the noise in your subject's eye. The original color/contrast looks ok to me.

Me again! :D Having just looked at your image of this subject over in OOTB (http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=12691) I'd be very tempted to pull a good amount of yellow out of the whites in this image :)

EDIT: OK! I couldn't help myself! :) The rework is attached above...

Made a selective color adjustment layer and did the following:
    White: -20% yellow, -13% black
    Yellow: -14% cyan, +11 % magenta

Get's rid of the bit of a green cast in the reflection as well.
