    Default Double for company ?

    Attached Images Attached Images

Hi all Gabriela´s last posting made me look through my recent KTP images and i found this on taken during mid day heat when all animals and humans gathered under a big tree to avoid the heat .
This circumstance made the image possible .
I am not sure if this works ...... i know it is not as good as Gabriela´s but i thought i give it a try !!!
    Shot is full frame .

    Canon EOS 1D MKIV
    EF 500 IS L
    Swinging lens support

    F 9 ; Iso 800 ; 1/1000 sec ; man exposure
With hindsight i should have closed the aperture a bit more for more DOF to get the mouth sharp as well , but it is as it is .

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC .

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous thread

    Chers Andreas

I like the colour and detail on the Springbok here Andreas, agree more DOF would be preferable, however overall the comp (as a shadow/symmetry work)
isn't working for me here as you have the BG bok cut in two.

Did you manage any more frames with both complete?

Hi Andreas - Nice detail and PP but it isn't working for me either. Too many intersecting lines among the horns and ears. It works better for me if you crop down from the top and eliminate the horns and ears though.

it works for me, A portrait abstract, I don't mind all the lines, my only nit is the light on the left side of the face, a Step to the right would have improved it.

Not my taste but an interesting idea. Good detail and exposure. More DOF would have been better to get the nose sharp too.

Hi all , i expected this from you guys , so as always with experiments it could be tricky in terms of acceptance by others . I much appreciated your comments !!!!

    Thanks again , Andreas

    Andreas,

...a very good evening to you, I have been thinking for a while about this image, did look a few times, still not sure, kind of 50-50 here because I really adore those eyes but I would like more DOF. I like the framing, love getting close, just the muzzle needs to be sharp - WDYT? You must have been so close to those springbok:) the eyes are so beautiful, lovely detail on the eyes, those eyelashes so gorgeous, so is the reflection:)

Good night Andreas, you have so many amazing shots from this trip...

Hi Andreas, I also feel it's not working, the one in the BKG I feel competes/intersects too much and if this was a standalone subject it would be far better. Not sure how far in terms of DoF you may have had to go to get the muzzle in? Good detail as expected.

Thanks Gabriela and Steve for your comments , as always much appreciated .
I know as i already said this would be a tricky one to make it work from aesthetic POV , i have seen the issues for sure myself . But if one not try to show............... one will not know what others think. So no problem for me if the majority does not really like it .
As this was taken in very close range to the animals , no really options at the time of shooting ....... well the only was not to shoot with the long lens attached . And i was in shooting tight mode at that time , taking the oops when the animals came very close .

Steve maybe F 16 would have worked for the muzzle .

Any way thanks for your critiques folks , cheers Andreas

    ...somewhere in-between F9 and F16

...now seriously, if I were there I would have taken a number of frames at various F-stops...It's tough when you're that close, I have learnt (also from my macro experiments) to shoot as many frames as I can and have more choice when I process...I do not trust my judgement when I am that close:) Still, I must say, those eyes are so beautiful, make the image for me, the long lashes...such a beauty!

...I know you have more Andreas, look again through your folders, give us some more images please:)

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
