I have only once seen the background glow like this at the rookery. It was a magical morning, indeed!

    Manual, center-weighted off chick
    Post-production- C1, CS3,

See you where there is light, or at the computer

Excellent interaction, setting, but the BG really makes it for me. It looks a bit oversharpened and the BG a tad noisy on my monitor. What ISO did you use? Thanks for sharing!

Magical image! I'd have to agree with Axel on the noise and over sharpening.

    Thanks guys,

This is an older image I already had on my drive, it could have been taken on my original Mark II, at probably ISO 800. I did not pull the original for details, nor rework the image, adding only the copyright.

Ok, I looked up the image specs -Canon EOS-1D, ISO 800, 2004

I like this image for all the reasons given. However, it looks to have been on the receiving end of a bit of a heavy hand with Ps Shadows and Highlights. Anyway, that's my guess. My reasoning is the surreal look around the eyes and faces of both birds and that fact that the lighting looks like it's coming from everywhere.

Nope, no S/H, just low contrast from the early morning, low intensity subtle side-lighting.
