Harsh light but did the best I could in an hour birding in the Mexican jungle....
It was either this or extremely dark and shady.

I know you know the limitations of this image, so I won't criticize it. I do think it is a very cool looking bird, with a nice perch and BG. Well done with what opportunity you had.

What a great bird Dan. A new one for me.
I am OK with the lighting here because it is a black bird and you can get away with the brighter sun. If this had been a white bird well, that would be a different story.
Eye looks great and I like the head angle.
The ferns in the RLQ really add a lot to the shot IMHO,

What a neat looking bird. I think you did good under the conditions you describe. The birds are where we find them, they control, we adjust. Thank you for sharing.

Great capture. Detail and colors came out excellent. Well done on the processing.

I really like this image a lot Dan, you captured (in less than ideal light) and processed it very well IMO. Great HA in this look-back pose, love the raised head feathers, and the BG is killer good. I'd be tempted to take some off the top of frame... maybe a 6x4 crop. But as I said, I like this a lot just as presented. Very nice work.

Not bad at all for the lighting conditions Dan. The light angle hit the bird pretty well and I don't see any shadowing at all. The details, perch and BG look great.
I'm pretty sure these are the same Birds I saw on my last trip to Puerto Vallarta. They were displaying in the jungle up by the zoo. Nice work.

What a funky looking bird! I like the pose and really neat BG. I do see a fair amount of noise in some parts that could be dealt with. This is new bird for me, too...thanks for sharing!
