Beautiful detail. Great expression and light. However I might like to see it brightened up a little and see the mongoose just a bit more towards the center.

Very nice techs and compositon. Sharp and like the eye contact.
May be little more DOF might have made it little better IMO.

    Hi Ben

Focus spot on-face and neck very crisp.
Angle and eye contact make this image.
I would push ISO a bit more to to shoot @ 6,3 or even 7,1.
Can see your thinking to move Mongoose to the right-the tail, but in my opinion it is anyway OOF.
The low POV very effective, the ears back pose says I am ready to run any moment...

Always wondered about these oblong pupils, never seen them on any other mammal...
    Regards

    Andre.

Beautiful image Ben. I like the shooting angle, the shallow DOF and the great eye contact.

    Hello Ben,

I like your Mongoose image, where the emphasis is on the face and the eye contact established with the subject. These little guys are fast and move around a lot, I imagine you might have other images at various DOF but you have chosen the one with most impact and which fits the theme. Great POV, well processed, a bit more DOF would have been ideal IMHO, if only to make the head of the mongoose appear less detached from the body. A delightful image I looked at quite a few times today and even shared it with my staff at work, they all loved it just as much as I did!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Great low angle and sharpness, Ben, overcast light helped define the subject nicely.
DOF falloff is fine for me.
Perhaps I would consider toning down overall warmth?
