    Hi Mike No a bad idea at all !!!! I like it !! As presented do try having the bird back in the frame. You need space up front for him to move into and also need to straighten the horizon.

    An alternative is to expose for a normal image with Positive compensation which would also look very good. As presented would darken the bird even more and lighten the ice. Don't need dark ice for a silhouette !!! Would also try making as sharp as possible (bird) Sharpness apples for silhouettes as much !!!

    I added some canvas, cropped, darken the bird and lighten the ice a bit !!!

    Wow, can i see a difference. the lightening of the ice really makes it pop.
