I took this image nearly 2 years ago in my backyard. The Painted Bunting its extremely rare in our Island with only 2 reports ever made and this fellow was the talk of town for birders when I reported the sighting. Many birders and photographers came to my house to have a chance of seen this beauty. It stayed in my backyard visiting the feeder from Nov 2012 until Mar 2013. Up to today it is one of my favorite photo I have taken and a truly very rare opportunity.

What a great looking bird. Love the colours and details. Goes great with the BG. Well done Ray, don't keep us waiting for another 2 years before you come up with something as good as this

Fabulous shot of this beauty! Not only did you get the rarity, but got him in a great singing pose and a lovely BG. I can see why it's a favorite.

Excellent singing pose, and the BG is to die for (palm leaf perhaps?). Perch is so-so IMO, but well sized...keeps all our attention on the beautiful little fella.

You are correct. The BG it is indeed a Palm leaf. Superb guess!
