    Default Sunset Snowy

I staked out a local garbage dump hoping to get a photo of a Gyrfalcon that's been hunting and roosting there, over the past few months. I was -19 and I was shivering in the car and noticed this owl sitting up on a knoll. How long he'd been there I don't know but it was perfect and helped me kill some time.
Fast forward a few hours and on the way home the sky was ablaze with color. Winter cold make for some lovely sunsets.
I decided to blend the two images and added the sky color to he snow and owl, nothing else.

Ciao for now. I'll be glad when the warm weather arrives, okay, not warm just above zero would be nice.

I really like the mood Paul. I like the horizontal lines in the sky and on the snow. Seems like it doesn't follow to have such a brilliant sky on a frigid day. I also like the pano crop. Luckily I am in Mexico and escaping the brutal winter for a while.

Really nice, Paul. I like the way the sunset lights up the foliage and the snow, and I also like the mood that the whole image creates.

Wonderful composition--strong diagonals. Love the glow of the grasses! Beautiful light, including the shapes of the sun on the snow. I know the owl would not be lit by the sun in this position, but, because the owl is dark I hardly notice it. Maybe that was your intent. You are most brave to be out in -19 weather!!

I particularly like the blending of the sky color with the snow.

This is really nice Paul! I love the understated (to the point of creating tension) snowy sitting there, begging to be seen. Nice composition and use of light.

I was admiring the sky and its effect on the snow. didn't see the owl until you mentioned it. that adds a bit of "aha" to it all.
