    Enrique:

These guys are just over the top, cartoon like characters with the huge bill and bold colors.

You did very well hand holding this rig at that shutter speed, and I know you pushed the dof as much as you could with the available light. If this was a static situation and you could have tried a few shots with higher ISO to get more dof, worth a try however.
If he had turned that big honking bill a bit more parallel to the frame, that would have helped manage the dof too.

The left shoulder is perhaps a little overexposed, with loss of detail there.

    He made me smile!

    Cheers

    thanks all!

Agree 100% Randy with the technical points you make. It was all I could do - as far as I could push w/o taking my eye off the viewfinder. + I dont like using 1600 ISO. But I missed a lot of shots due to low SS... I could have pushed to f/13 I think... The frame with the bill more parallel was clipped. It happened quickly and I wanted the eye sharp. The shoulder is not blown I think, but the process I use has a creaming effect... need to try something different

the question to me is... do the shortcomings ruin the frame?

    thanks!

Good points brought forth, which I agree with. The colours are stunning to say the least!! I also love the luscious BG. I'm assuming you were not able to step back a few steps?

    Enrique:

For me, the impact of the colors and that amazing bill outweigh the dof issue. So, I think it is a successful frame, well worth keeping!
