I like the 'dark' feeling around this image its nice. I love the way the black on the top of the leg changes to yellow then back to almost greyscale feet Nice details on the bird. and the HA is ok with me. Good POV. Nice detail on the whites. Good work

Excellent Coot image, Jon. Great to see the funky feet. Also like the spot light effect.

    I really like this image.
Love the details in the blacks, the color palette and the BG has a very raphaelesque ( is that a word..?) feeling.
Love the lines of the body and the great look at the feet.
One of your best images I think,
    Gail

This is one of my favorites of your work, Jonathan. It does resemble a Renaissance painting. You certainly have remarkable light with shading in all the right spots. Like the Coots posture and those unique feet. What looks to be a surface of ice reflecting the BG is extraordinary. Very well done.

Jonathan it's great the way you have presented this, colour and detail in the feet is perfect, it just shows what you can do a so called common bird.

For some reason those feet remind me of Freddy Kruguers glove. I can see that scraping the ice and making the eerie sound from the move hha

Great image, love the feeling with dark bird on dark BG and those yellow tarsus

Hi Jonathan - I really like the rich color palette here and the mood of the light and mist. Details and sharpness look good. It all works, well done!

I am with Gail on this image. It's terrific. Love the theatrical lighting and the dark yet powerful colors. I am seeing a slight halo around the head...not sure if that's from the BG or from a mask. The fact that the coot is on ice is a big plus as well. Great work.

Hi Jon, excellent low angle, and you have just nailed the exposure on this fellow. I feel you have the sharpness spot on too. Great view of the feet, and the BG rounds of the image nicely.

Up there with your better images.
