Beautiful image with some rich colours. I like the framing and the OOF cubs add interest. You could have upped the ISO for some more DOF I feel.

Beautiful shot, and for me, the depth of field works perfectly, with the separation between the mother and the cubs spot on. If there is any more room, I might be tempted to add a little more up top and lose a little off the left - personal choice as ever. The white marks (pollen?) covering the left cubs face could do with cloning out, although the other ones add to the shot.

    Great frame though

No room shown full frame... As far as DOF in concerned even stopped down all the way you wouldn't have been able to get the cubs in the focus plane and you would have likely made BG busier thus competing with the main subject!

Hi Dale - I think the dof works really well with the entire mom in focus and the cubs oof. Nice separation between mom and the cubs with excellent detail on mom. Low pov works well too. Only thing I find slightly distracting is the darker patch/shadow in the lower left quadrant. Has it gotten cold again yet out there?

She's running along the bank of the river so that's what the dark area is an embankment... Had a few days a little colder but warmed up again today.. Maybe some snow this weekend!

I like the shot, it has a touch of tension. Mom focused on something, cubs running to keep up with a little concern on their face as well. Nice surroundings and I like the DOF difference between mom and the cubs.

Wow that is a fine shot, love the timing and the intent stare by the adult, I like the OOF cubs. In a perfect world maybe there would have been just a tad more separation between the first cub and the mother's nose.
I would consider chopping a tad off the bottom and adding a tad to the top but no big deal.

Thanks Dale, now I see and understand the context. We have the arctic temps in NYC again.

DOF, motion/poses, and vibrant colours all work well here Dale.
    Good framing too!

Hi Dale, like the composition with the cubs looking to you and Mom to the left. Position in frame is great and a nice environment with no distracting elements. Having that hint of separation between Mom & cubs is just enough, and I also like the cub stacking up behind the other cub and the fact the 'bugs' are highlighted across the chest.
