    Default Barred Owl.

This is the same individual I posted a few days ago, but photographed on a different day. It had been perching on a so-so perch for a good while, until it moved a few times, including this wide open perch that it stayed on for a bit. Here I had my back squished against a fallen tree and could not back up more so I frantically removed the TC to get this FF composition...good thing the owl stayed put! This is also the only spot where I had a complete filled-in BG...moving an inch right or left introduced some white sky in the upper corners (some neat high-key images were also taken)

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, a couple of snags strategically removed, including one crossing the belly (content aware worked wonders for that). The catchlight on the bird's right eye (to our left) is natural, the other to our right added by me.

    Daniel:

Such a round little fellow. Love how the branch disappears under the fluffy feathers. Nice comp.

    Soft light and lovely exposure.

    Cheers

Very nice image Daniel. great details throughout. I love the pose, it's like the owl is nodding off and falling against the tree.. Good work
