    Default Northern Waterthrush

    Last August while in the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, we came across this Northern Waterthrush hunting for insects, mollusks, or crustaceans in one of several ponds. It was scampering over, under and through reed leaves, logs, etc. so I was very pleased to capture this image though it's in partial shade. C&C welcome.

    D700, Nikon 500mm + 1.4 tc, 1/2000, f 6.3, ISO 800, Hand Held.

    Removed some distracting leaves.

    Like the habitat and the way the thrush is posed, the shadow shows that this could be a difficult place, finished with a very good image.

    You have a pretty cool pose on this bird. I'd probably crop a tad off of the left and bottom and remove some slight green cast from your bird.
