    Something different!

Sycamores along Black Run near my house.

    18-200mm at 125mm, handheld, f6.3, 1/250 sec., ISO 160.

I kept working on it until I got to something a liked: Topaz Adjust, Gaussian Blur on parts, 2 textures by Joel Olives, Viveza, added a copy of background processed in Topaz Simplify, CEP: Vignette Blur & Sunlight, Texture by Lenabem (flickr).

Beautiful. Has an almost "ghosty" effect, as my grandmother would say, especially that hanging low branch on the right tree. I would prefer the trunk of the left tree a little clearer. The dark trees on the top add more of an eery effect. This eery remark is not a negative, just the first thoughts I had....I can see this on the wall of the right room.

Good point about the trunk of the tree on the left. Here is a version with lighter left trunk. Is it enough? I appreciate your views--this is such a different type of photo for me that I don't quite know what to think of it. Thanks.

I love ghostly woods and this evokes that feeling very well. I do like it with that trunk lightened -- good eye, Hazel. There is a light area along the LL that could be cloned out.

It would be interesting to have a try at cloning out the road -- it might be a reasonable task with the busy areas around it.

Thanks for suggestions! Here is my version with the clones you suggested. Did I miss anything? There is still a suggestion of a line where the road was.

I like the mood a lot Anita and the changes thus far. My only suggestion would be is to perhaps reduce the branches in black especially near the top. I find them competing for my attention a bit. I really like the sloping hill in the fg and the way the one birch really stands out. Nice to see you getting out of your comfort zone and adding a post to this theme.

Good cloning! Leaving a suggestion is fine -- if I hadn't known the road was there I wouldn't "reconstruct" it from what is left.

After seeing the changes, I'm throwing my vote in for the most recent repost. Nicely done Anita. I don't think I would change anything, this image is a treat to look at and I enjoy wandering my eyes around it.

Thank you Jackie, Diane and Moe. I agree about the dark tree trunks at the top. Appreciate all your input.

So interesting to see an image evolve here in the forum. Your original looks great but the incremental changes leading up to the last repost really made the image stronger. Very nice vision and it's great to see you taking the long view here.

Thanks, Kerry. I find it very helpful to get comments that lead me to make changes that result in a stronger image.

I am late to the discussion. The progression of the image is fascinating and represents one of the strong features of the forum. I also prefer the last post. Sycamores are one of my favorite trees. We do not have them in SE Idaho.

Outstanding work Anita! I really like images with this look although I haven't done many myself. I like the 3rd one best.

Thanks, Judy. It is a new area of exploration for me.
