Hi Steve - I like the frame filling comp of this one and the thistle adds to the image. Mostly nice detail though the blacks do seem to be choked in some places. There's also a slight magenta/red cast to the face but it may be natural. I know some of them tend to have a bit more red than others.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Steve, I like the pastel of the thistle contrasting with the darker bison color and the slightly turned head with that "I still see you" eye contact. Nicely composed.

    Cheers,

Hi Steve, you almost want to sink your hands into that thick, wooly coat. I don't mind not seeing all of that left eye, there is just that hint as that right one just pulls you in IMHO. I think the crop is fine on the overall height, but wonder if having more to the left would add to the overall composition?

    A real frame filler Steve!
I like that you got all of him in as these shots can easily feel too tight at the bottom.
I agree some of the blacks look slightly choked but I can imagine this being a hard species to properly expose for while protecting highlights in the overall scene. As Steve K said, a little on the left would probably add compositionally...

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. May have bumped the contrast up a touch too much. No additional space on the left, tight crop to eliminate bits and pieces of other buffs.

Lovely portrait, great detail and I like the shooting angle. The only thing I would maybe say is a bit more space all around for my taste. Very nice image.
