While in Nome we hiked up a steep hill to an outcrop of rock hoping to see some Northern Wheatears that had been seen a day or so earlier. No Wheatears but we had a visit from a cautious Arctic Ground Squirrel

Very nice composition and image design. I find the detail lacking as the fur looks quite coarse. Also the fur around the edges looks a little blurred (NR on the BG and maybe it affected the fur?) I also see blue in the white/grey parts in the squirrel and rocks. Im not sure on the colours of this species so maybe the grey and white has a blue undertone.
This is a lovely image and with some refine it could go over the top. Nice one Roy!
It is a sweet image and I like the curious look; apart from Dumay's suggestions I think I might take a bit off the bottom to lose more of the out-of-focus foreground.
My first time to see an Arctic Ground Squirrel and I love the way he pops into the image from behind that rock:) The comp works for me, but- like Dumay above- I feel there's a coarseness to the subject, as well as a blueish tinge on the white parts of the fur. Very cute character, lovely pose and the POV is just great, I really think you could do more with this image Roy, perhaps a lighter hand on the sliders/sharpening action?
