Here's my take on the excellent image Rachel posted (Bison Parade). It all happened very quickly. I had my 1d4 and 800mm mounted on my tripod capturing head shots of some other bison when we looked behind us and saw this group of big bulls walking right towards us. I just set up on them turned vertical and fired a burst.

Wow Dale, the detail you brought out in the snowy, overcast light is really great. The eye, the raised foot and the bit of breath all add to the image. Nice low pov too. I can't remember but guess from the angle that you were standing on the other side of the snow coach from me. I was near the front right corner when I saw the line approaching. Exp looks great and I like that we can see just a bit of the other bison to know that it's a line.

Hi Dale, just perfect, great alignment, nice detail in the hint of snow being kick up and that heavy coat being 'caked' in the frozen snow, sets the scene well. The light also conveys that 'overcast' conditions IMHO.

Great shot I really like the angle and the snow encrusted to the coat. Excellent details and I like the sideways glance the leader is giving.

Love this one Dale - I too wish it was mine, really nice effect with the long telephoto and the frosty feeling here.
    Excellent details...
