I'm posting this for Rachel since we discussed this image last week on the Yellowstone tour. Rachel this was the DQ'ed contest image. This is an old image shot with slide film back in the day from a densite in Colorado. I spotted the adult heading towards the den. They always followed the same route so I prefocused on the spot. When the adult came into view I was amazed that it was carrying a bullsnake for breakfast.

Hi Dale - This is fantastic and it should have won rather than be DQ'd. The light and colors are fantastic. It scanned well too. I'm surprised anyone thought it was captive (the reason for the DQ) given that a bull snake would be pretty unusual to use for food or bait. They just weren't thinking and not to ask you was really unfair. You were robbed!

    TFS,
    Rachel

Always liked this shot, the surrounding greens provided a nice frame for the fox. I remember seeing it in Colorado Outdoors magazine (cover shot maybe?) back when I first started getting interested in the hobby. Looks like a good sized snake.

What an absolute cracker, Dale!! Love the low angle, the FG mush and of course the pose and content.
Sorry to hear about your unfair treatment - assume it's a well known competition too

Hi Dale, an exceptional image based on being from the 'Film' days, love the mush/environment/habitat, really off sets the subject well, cracking detail too.

BTW, very refreshing to read your crit on Rachel's thread, very informative and a different angle too, great.

Dale - I remember this one, too. Can't you enter it again? It's one of the best red fox images I've seen. Steve

    Hey Steve,

You're the man with red fox images so I appreciate that very much! Hmmmm never thought about entering it again in a contest! Missed you in Yellowstone this winter, every time someone orders chili I think of you!
