Hi all , posting again one of my numerous crop tryouts of this Gemsbok female from KTP at Craig Lockhardt WH . Image taken during the mid day heat , she was trying to escape from the same so we have been jammed up in the shade of the Acacia tree .And she was very curious for a Gemsbok !!

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    Ef 500 IS L
    Swinging lens support

    F 5,6 ; Iso 400 ; 1/1250 sec ; man exposure

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC ; slight crop from left and top ; went for a bit more punch in this one again .

Thanks fro looking and commenting to my previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas - I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I find myself drawn to the reflection in the eye rather than the image as a whole. It's sort of an image within an image effect. Certainly an interesting experiment.

Hi Rachel i fully understand your feeling about this ,the title is trying to say that , and i am expecting comments like yours .I guess this is one of the images .......where there is no grey opinion , like it or donīt !!!
And yes going off center with the glassy eye is somehow irritating the viewer , it was just an experiment in the field , and if i do not show ........... well i do get the feedback .
I like it because of this unusual crop/view , what bothers me a bit is that large ear in this whole thing .
Any way thanks for your honest comment, much appreciated .

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas, yes I think it may fall into that category of 'marmite', love it/hate it.

As you know, I'm all for trying something new and this is quite a 'graphic' image partly due IMHO, to the strength of the tone, colour, crop and content and I'm not sure if ALL the elements are just fighting each other, for me it one of those images where you need to discuss it over the table, if you know what I mean. Even going B/W, Duotone... pushes it even more into the 'bolder' bracket. I wonder if a bit more DoF for the antler may have been good as presented and perhaps some off the top?

An interesting approach here. Kind of high key image! The eye grabs your interest and then the ear and the horn compete for interest after that. Seems to work!
