Amazing portrait shot! That stare out of the corner of the eye and the brilliant white teeth make this for me! BG is super and so is your use of DOF

Lovely light and the angle the eye is at is superb. I might consider cloning out the OOF stalk of grass below the jaw about an inch in from the tip of the snout

Morkel - one of your best from the boat! The light, low pov and creamy bg with a punch of color all combine for a terrific image. I might tame down the one brighter grass stalk under the chin.

Hi Morkel this certainly works very well . Very nice low POV and DOF with a stunning BG . Like the overall tonality and details . Very nice processed !!
As colors are subjective i might go for a hint more to the magenta side of the color scale , a bit too much green for my taste , but that is oh so subjective . So no big deal .

Well done Morkel , TFS Andreas

Perfect detail, lighting & BG in this shot Morkel! Even the grasses contribute to a nicely balanced crop so had it been mine, I wouldn't touch it!

Thought afterwards that I was crazy taking a shot of a giraffe's head at f/20 recently, but I'm starting to feel better now!

Great shot full of nice colors and texture. Can't beat the angle of view. Agree about toning down the single blade of grass, otherwise wouldn't change a thing.

Hi Morkel, certainly this has the WOW factor and an impressive set of nashers too. I do like the overall colours and the BKG is super, but I can also see where Andreas is coming from and so wether it's a culmination of a few tweaks I'm not sure, but it may help give a bit more 'tonal' standout, not much more, but a hint, just to give a bit more separation? Another vote for the blade of grass to be toned down or evicted.

    TFS
    Steve

This is a awesome image. I love the light the shooting angle and especially all the complimentary colours all around. Great stuff!

Not sure if thats a dust spot or two on the top of the image right of your signature.

    Thanks a bunch folks.
Tweaked the colour balance towards magenta and removed the dust spot (cheers Dumay). Won't repost though...
