Nothing is more rewarding than to be in the presence of a bird that accepts you so totally that he (she) rests right in front of you. THis little sanderling was part of a group that had been actively feeding until the tide got high and covered their rocks. (The shoreline is naturally sloped...I left things quite as they were.) After I clicked a few times, I took a little rest myself.

I couldn't agree with you more Grace. It gives one a sense of harmony with nature. I had a similar experience photographing a burrowing owl recently. I was 15-20 feet away, and after a while, it lost interest, raised its leg, and fell asleep. This is an excellent image! Thanks for sharing!

Great exposure control, details, use of DOF and mood. If anything, I might crop a bit off the top.

Very nice image Grace, and I'm glad you left the slope as it was because if you would have levelled it the bird would look as if it were tilting forward. I'd be tempted to crop a little bit from the top.

Really like this one, Grace. Leaving the slope is perfect. I like it as presented.

I really like this image Grace. The feeling and the mood to the image is peaceful and relaxing.

If i could change anything I would get rid of the little green OOF bit above the sig.

This is a classic. Very nice low angle and feeling. I have to agree with Robert about the green.
