    Default Northern Pintail

I clipped the tail, the best part. Dang it. Winter in Phoenix is great for ducks, had 10 species today. I was trying to eliminate junk on the other side of the pond and so (regrettably) I clipped the tail.

He was missing an eye so I was limited to shooting just this side of him. C&C appreciated.

    Thanks.

Even though he's missing an eye, he looks quite content. Mind you most ducks look like they are smirking.

Good idea to go with a portrait crop, looks good to me. The background works nicely with the birds head color. And I really like the gleam of blue in the water. This guy looks like he's been in a fight.

Fantastic light and details. Lovely eye level look at this handsome drake. Nice FG, BG too. Although those long feathers are lovely, one alternative option would be going for a tighter portrait.
Did you have to recover the whites in processing? I'm not on a calibrated monitor right now, so take this with a pinch of salt, but some whites appear very bright/blown.

Excellent portrait of the Pintail! The light and details are awesome and I love the color of the water in the BG.
