I watched this duck for a few moments and then tried to catch him as he dived, I was curious to see the vortex he created.
    All C&C welcome.

    Different and very interesting!

The vortex is a nice feature, and there is just enough separation from the eye to the reflection to work. Colours on the head are spot on.

I have a few of these little beauties at my local site, but they stay where you can't get low down to them - one day...

Hi Jon, excellent exposure on the duck, especially the head, as those greens and purples shine nicely. Well timed to have the eye just above the water, but its the shape of the vortex that takes this over the top. Well captured.

Gorgeous image. Absolutely perfect timing, catching the golden eye just at right place above the surface of water.
Superb exposures in whites and blacks. Love the reflection water ripples on his belly and water droplets on him and sure vortex made composition absolutely superb.
    Love it, Jonathan.

    Regards,
    Satish.

    Hi Jonathan.

I was out today at a loch photographing Tufted duck, and I spent about 30 mins trying to get the pic u got. I will be processing later, but I got exactly the same one as you, we must be on the same wavelength :)

Great image, just love the way you can see the duck 'suck' it's way out, then immediately dive back in. I know how difficult it is to get this moment, so, very well done

These type of shots are so fun to try to get!
A fine image with the eye just above the water.
I would move the bird up in the frame if you have more water below.
I am not crazy about the blue lines in the top of the frame so if you changed your crop you could eliminate the big blue line(but then you are getting quite tight).
Personally I would clone the blue out.
Good IQ and love the water well,
    Gail

A real fun shot to try to get is right, and for anyone who has sat and tried this knows how hard it is to actually get the head at this perfect point, especially with the eye showing and a nice splash. I agree with Gail in removing all the blue. Well done Jonathan.
