Theme: A Splash of Red

I began with a photo that had essentially no red in it. Red Fill layer multiply blend masked to color the two water droplets. Topaz Impressions Cave Dweller preset added the red to the leaves. Second Impressions added the brush texture.

A little odd, I guess. Thanks for looking.

Michael: Clever use of red. If it's not there, why not add it?! The image, however, doesn't work for me--I can't figure out what it is.

Michael, I have the same issue with this image. It seems too organic to be abstract and not have enough definition to be organic, if that makes any sense. I think the overall issue for me is that there are too many elements vying for attention yet none of them stand out much nor do they make a strong composition.

I think too, I have trouble focusing on a focal point as there is a lot going on. But it is always good to try techniques and experiment. I agree with Kerry, not defined for organic, and too defined for abstract. But kudos for trying something different!

Michael, I too struggled to find a rhythm or focus in this. I agree with all the above. Maybe too many effects layered.

Thanks much for your comments. They are much appreciated. Yeah, I did say it was a little odd ;-). Rotating it 90 degrees CCW helps a little. The original, rotated for grins.

Michael: Thanks for posting the original image. In looking at it, I think the sharp focus in not on the large water drop that you colored red, but on the green leaf above the main leaf. That might be a main source of the problem.

Michael, I like it as an abstract. It reminds me of a chest of jewels, especially the "ruby"
