Used topaz simplify 4, watercolor with a reduced opacity and a layer of fractalius, blend multiply also with reduced opacity. I placed this rose on my light box for the translucent effect.
It looks like a melancholy rose to me, because of the white in the BG on the right, going to grey on the LHS. I wouldn't mind seeing more of the green leaf on the RHS that is touching the top of the frame. The light box has given it some nice translucency.
The yellowed parts of the flower and the partially curled petals give this image a lot of character. It reminds me of a beautiful image by photographer Art Shimamura called "Graceful Aging". (Here is the link to the on-line gallery in which that image is located, if you are interested in taking a look: http://artshim.com/gallery4.html). I really like the effect of the lightbox too.
This is a prime example of the translucence that's possible with a light box. You took nice advantage of it with the single petals, and the processing is wonderful. I keep seeing pink in the background and wonder if it's really there or my eyes are playing tricks on me. In either case, I like it. Beautifully done.
Greetings. The bright saturated color and fine petal detail are standouts. Very cool look. There is some color breakdown (cyan banding) in the lower right corner... may be at the jpeg decrease in color resolution stage.
Thanks everyone for looking and your comments. I did not notice during processing but now I do see there is pink in the bkgd and the banding in the lower right corner. I really don't want that banding and need to get rid of it.
I love the translucent look! Beautiful colors! Nicely processed. I would remove the loose petals; for me, they interfere with the rose itself. Other points have been covered by others.
Anita, I see what you mean about removing the loose petals. That would allow the stem to be seen and maybe be a more graceful image. I'll need to experiment.
