My husband got fed up with editing my video, so he bought me a camera and lens for Christmas!
Here is one of my first shots taken on a trip to Botswana over the Christmas/New Year holiday.
EOS 7d MkII
100-400mm MkII at 321 mm

You and your husband did good! Very natural colors and I love the tip of the tongue.

Welcome to the BPN wildlife forum, Hekena! Where in Africa do you live?
The clarity in the face and the blink in the eye are very nice! It's always a challenge when shooting into such bright skies so I feel you exposed it as well as you could when exposing for the subject.
I would consider cropping this to a vertical/portrait frame to remove some of the high key background and the leaves/branch on the RHS? There also seems to be a green cast all over, quite common when shooting into the tree canopy with the camera picking up on all that reflected light off the green leaves. You can correct it in a number of ways - easiest of which is to tweak the "color balance" panel in Photoshop (if you use it).
Sharpness on the 7D2 and new 100-400mm combo seems to be great.
We encourage everyone to add their own critiques to about 5 other threads for each image posted - it helps to build community spirit and fosters the BPN ethos that we can all learn from each other![]()
Thanks for your comments.
