    Default Eye Wide Open

I took this image from about 8 feet away with my Tamron 150-600 at 600mm, even so this Cormorant had its eye on me the whole time.
A small conversion to black and white with NIk and I added the eye and yellow patch color back in....
Framed it but didn't like the frame much....cropped it and voi la, fini
    Ciao for now

Nice contrast in textures and colors. Although the turquoise and yellow-orange pull my eye, the textures and the strong pattern of the feathers, keep it moving through the image. Well done.

Beautiful, Paul! Their eyes are so amazing. I like the diagonal lines of the beak and the feathers.

I love how this tight image creates an almost abstract of the head and feathers, with the focus on that fabulous jewel eye! I also like how the feather edgings repeat each other as well as the shape of the head. I like the b&w conversion with all the various shades and the total black of the border adding just the right amount of contrast, as well as holding in all the feathers. The thin blue border is a small but elegant touch. Well done!

Nice feel to this one, and I like how the darker corners bring you back into the image. Nice lines all the way through.

    Paul,

Greetings. Great blend of mono-chrome and color. The eye is mesmerizing which the composition supports with the lines and detailed feathers. Good show!

    Cheers,

Very interesting juxtaposition of color and B&W. I actually took a similar photo last week at a bird photography workshop in Florida with Denise Ippolito (a terrific teacher!). Cormorant feather detail makes for beautiful abstract images.

Very cool, Paul. You have great feather detail and I am really liking the crop.

Well, my eye goes straight to the eye! Can hardly pull myself away to see the rest of the image. I like the crop and composition.

Super composition in this one Paul. The contrast of the bright colors of the bill and eye really work well against the rest of the image. Very nice!
