Woodie with wood

I've been wanting to get images of Wood Ducks in trees for some time. Finally got a few at Santee Lakes in CA last week. Here's a hen.

Perfect setting for the colors of the duck -- I like the unusual view and BG. I don't usually think about ducks in trees.

Exposure just a little bit on the dark side? Love the duck in a tree. Funny with birds of prey, you try to avoid this perspective, but with a duck it's so unusual that it works for me. I would consider excising the one darker background branch that intersects with the duck.

Unique capture in the tree! I agree, when I get branches intersecting bodies, I clone them out. I do like habitat shots, but a little judicious cloning doesn't hurt, IMHO. Nice detail captured and I like the exposure. Now get a male in this pose!

All has been said above that I would say. A duck in a tree....who would have thought? Good catch
